David Ortiz Receives WWE Championship From John Cena [PHOTO] As Red Sox Celebrate World Series

David Ortiz received the 2013 World Series Most Valuable Player Award for the world champion Boston Red Sox, and the designated hitter recently received some more hardware from another champion: WWE World Heavyweight Champion John Cena. Cena presented "Big Papi" with a replica WWE title belt and Big Papi wore it with his trademark smile proudly over the weekend.

NESN reports that as the Red Sox were celebrating their World Series victory on Saturday while cruising around Boston on duck boats and sharing the moment with the fans, Ortiz was seen rocking the WWE title and was excited to be doing so. Cena, a Boston native, presented Ortiz with the title since he couldn't make it to the parade on Saturday because he wanted to present the Red Sox with something after their 4-2 series victory over the St. Louis Cardinals that brought the franchise and the city of Boston its third championship in a decade.

Ortiz, 38, proudly sported the championship as the team celebrated throughout Boston. Cena came through on his promise to Ortiz that he'd receive the belt before the parade in Boston.

Incidentally, the WWE will present its Survivor Series pay-per-view Nov. 24 from the TD Garden in Boston and Cena will have a prominent role on the card as the company's World Heavyweight Champion.

Cena tweeted the following message for Ortiz as Boston celebrated their title win Saturday:

Ortiz tweeted out a picture of himself sporting his new bling during the parade:

Ortiz had a tremendous year for the Red Sox in the regular season, helping Boston go from worst (69-93 last place AL East in 2012) to first (97-65, first place AL East in 2013) by hitting .309 with 30 homers and 103 RBIs. After hitting .395 in the AL Division Series against the Tampa Bay Rays, Ortiz hit just .091 in the AL Championship Series but added a clutch grand slam against the Detroit Tigers before hitting an astounding .688 in the World Series with two homers and six RBIs.

Ortiz has plenty of hardware to commemorate Boston's 2013 season, and thanks to a hometown fan in Cena, he can add a replica WWE title to the list.
