Jay Z, Roc Nation Sports Gifts Scandal: Under Investigation Over Gifts Given To Robinson Cano [VIDEO]

Roc Nation Sports founder Jay Z is now under investigation by Major League Baseball Players Association officials over possible rules violations stemming from gifts he gave to Robinson Cano.

According to CBSSports.com, Jay Z gave the New York Yankees free-agent infielder a watch valued at nearly $34,000 as a birthday gift two weeks ago. MLBPA rule Section 5 9B) (5) (a) stipulates agents can not shower clients with gifts for the express purpose of encouraging them to "continue use of any person or firm."

If found guilty of the violation, Jay Z faces "unspecified discipline," complicating all the more by photos and messages Cano posted on his Instragram page stating "thanks to ROC NATION for my birthday gift."

Cano, 31, is considered the class of this year's free agent pool and is expected to command a nine-figure salary in his new next long term deal. Cano is a five-time All-Star and five-time Silver Slugger Award winner, who also starred on the Yankees 2009 World Series Championship team.

Since launching his agency earlier this year, Jay Z has already signed such big name clients as Cano, Kevin Durant, Victor Cruz, Geno Smith and the WNBA's Skylar Diggins.
