Aaron Hernandez Prison Update: Former Patriots TE Has First Court Appearance With Former Casey Anthony Lawyer [VIDEO]

Former Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez is hoping Jose Baez has some more magic in him.

Baez was the attorney who got Casey Anthony off for murder and the former Patriots tight end met with him last month to bring him on as his head attorney.

Hernandez and Baez made their first appearance in court together on Thursday for Hernandez's double murder trial, according to TMZ Sports. The former NFL star is accused of shooting and killing two people during a drive-by shooting in 2012.

The ex-Patriots tight end was previously convicted for the 2013 murder of Odin Lloyd.

The hearing on Thursday was focused on evidence in the double murder case and everyone is due back in court next month.

Hernandez met with Baez last month in a last-ditch effort to get the latest conviction overturned. The former NFL star has denied any wrongdoing in all three of the murders, but hasn't had success in finding anyone to believe his innocence.

He is accused of gunning down two men in a drive-by incident because they bumped into him in a bar and spilled his drink. Hernandez was convicted in the June 2013 murder of Lloyd, who was a friend of his. Hernandez was found guilty of first-degree murder in April 2015.

Hernandez spent three years in the NFL, last playing in 2012, and amassed 175 receptions for 1,956 yards and added18 touchdowns before flushing it all away.

The former Patriots star has become infamous for writing letters during his prison stint.

"I have a TV in my cell! And yes I still root for my squad and still love all the ones I loved," he wrote back in February, according to TMZ. "The closest I was with was probably Brady and whom I love to death and always will and only hope the best for them. But was cool with Julez, Branch (I f**ked with and got mad love for) and 'the BEST TE ever to walk on a football field' Gronk!"
