The Cubs are red-hot this MLB season and two of their superstars are in the converstaion for National League MVP.
Third baseman Kris Bryant and first baseman Anthony Rizzo have repeatedly come up in the NL MVP conversation, but the two infielders could end up canceling each other out by splitting up the votes.
Bryant won the Rookie of the Year award last season and is already a two-time All-Star, while Rizzo has made it to the Midsummer Classic on three occasions.
The two have a lot of competition as Nationals slugger Daniel Murphy, Rockies third baseman Nolan Arenado and Dodgers rookie Corey Seager have also made a lot of noise and are among the names who could take home the hardware.
Between Rizzo and Bryant, it's hard to even pick who has the edge.
Rizzo, 27, owns a .286/.395/.566 slash line through 107 games in his sixth season and has hit 24 homers while driving in 84 runs and scoring 67 runs of his own.
Bryant, 24, has slashed .285/.386/.543 through 107 games in his second MLB season with 27 homers, 69 RBIs and 83 runs scored.
The duo is one of the key reasons why the Cubs are the best team in the league. Chicago enters Tuesday with an MLB-leading 69-41 record and despite a minor hiccup, the club is the only team with a double-digit lead in their division. The Cubs own an 11-game lead over the Cardinals entering Tuesday.
Bryant is tied with former division rival and newly-acquired Met Jay Bruce and injured Rockies shortstop Trevor Story for second in the NL with his 27 homers. His 83 runs also lead the Senior Circuit, while his 223 total bases rank fifth.
Rizzo ranks first in the NL in doubles (32, tied), third in OPS (.962), fourth in RBIs (80) and fifth in slugging percentage (.566).
Defensively, Bryant has eight errors -- seven of which have come at the hot corner -- and is worth plus-7 in the defensive runs saved metric, according to Fangraphs. Rizzo has five errors at first base and is also a plus-7 in DRS.
While both Cubs superstars are having MVP-caliber seasons, they could end up canceling each other out in the race.
