Bill Goldberg WWE Return News & Rumors: Goldberg Teases Comeback, Takes Shot At Brock Lesnar [VIDEO]

Bill Goldberg could be closer to determining who's next for him in the squared circle.

The former WCW and WWE Heavyweight Champion hasn't appeared in a WWE ring since 2004, but he could be closing in on a return.

In fact, it seems as though Goldberg is more open than ever before to stepping into the ring. The last time he did so in Vince McMahon's company, he defeated Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania XX in Madison Square Garden.

The match itself is infamous. Both competitors were leaving the WWE shortly after the match and word leaked out, causing the WWE Universe to completely turn on the match and only root for special guest referee "Stone Cold" Steve Austin.

Goldberg recently appeared in Germany to hype the upcoming "WWE 2K17" video game, which will be released on Oct. 12. The man behind the former 173-0 streak in WCW is a featured character in the game, which ratcheted up rumors he could be set to return to the squared circle soon.

The former champ took a swipe at Lesnar during the appearance, saying he shouldn't be on the cover since he lost to Goldberg 12 years ago at the "Show of Shows." When fans peppered him with "please come back" chants, he also said he was open to it.

"As we all know, I should be on the damn cover because I killed the guy who's gonna be on the cover," Goldberg said of Lesnar. "For you guys, I'll see what I can do."

Rumors swirled that Goldberg could play a huge role in the SummerSlam event this Sunday at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. He's set to be in New York City over the weekend to take part in promoting the video game on behalf of 2K17.

While his appearance is likely limited to promoting the game, Goldberg teased it could be more and also seemed hyped about the possibility of returning to the ring.

"I'm going to New York City," Goldberg said. "And that's all I can say about that. But, you never say never, even when you're my age because I have no issues putting the tights and the boots on, and those gloves, and ripping people's faces off again. All I need is the opportunity to do it. So all I can say is you fans out there keep doing what you're doing and it will happen."

While Goldberg continues to tease, Lesnar will be in action on Sunday as he battles Randy Orton in a "RAW" vs. "SmackDown Live" inter-promotional match at SummerSlam.
