Jonathan Martin Dolphins Abuse Update: Miami Offensive Tackle Lands on Magazine's All-Disappointment Team

It's been tough sledding for Miami Dolphins second-year offensive tackle Jonathan Martin.

He abruptly left the Dolphins last week in the wake of a team prank. He later revealed that teammate Richie Incognito left a voicemail threatening him and his family, as well as using a racial slur. Then, he was criticized for not physically confronting Incognito and tattling on him.

Now, he has been voted to Sports Illustrated's 2013 All-Disappointment Team. At least he shares the dubious honor on the offensive line with Incognito, who is the Dolphins' starting offensive guard.

According to Sports Illustrated, the definition it uses as "disappointment" is:

"... But when a player severely underperforms to his obvious potential, 'Disappointment' is a harsh but accurate term."

The Dolphins rank 29th among the 32 NFL teams in total offense, averaging just 315.3 yards per game. They are 22nd in rushing offense at 97.6 yards per game and 21st in passing at 217.6 yards per game.

Still, Miami is 4-4 on the season and is just a half-game out of a wild-card spot in the AFC.

The Dolphins will find out how disappointing their offense will be without both Martin and Incognito on the field Monday when they travel to Tampa Bay to take on the Buccaneers. Martin still has not rejoined the team, and Incognito has been suspended pending an investigation into the Martin incident.

Other players on the Sports Illustrated "All-Disappointment Team" include Cleveland Browns quarterback Brandon Weeden, former Cleveland Browns and current Indianapolis Colts running back Trent Richardson, running back Ray Rice of the defending Super Bowl champion Baltimore Ravens, Dolphins wide receiver Mike Wallace, St. Louis Rams wide receiver Tavon Austin, New York Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul, Green Bay Packers linebacker A.J. Hawk, New York Jets cornerback Antonio Cromartie and Pittsburgh Steelers safety Troy Polamalu.
