Andrew Bynum Knee Injury: Issues Have Him Thinking Retirement? [VIDEO]

Frustrated with yet another slow start in a new season, Andrew Bynum says he's seriously considering walking away from the game altogether.

Bynum, who inked a two-year, $24 million deal with Cleveland during the summer on the heels of sitting out the entire 2012-13 season in Philadelphia with lingering knee issues, has already publicly doubted if he will ever be the same player he once was in his heydays with the Lakers.

"I'm struggling mentally," the 26-year-old Bynum told Slam Magazine. "I'm trying," he said, adding "just to be able to play without pain and discover joy again" are considered milestones. "Right now it's just battling pain... I'm not able to do the things I used to be able to do and it's frustrating."

Bynum had surgery performed on both his knees last March, and over four games this season has averaged just five points and four rebounds in just over 12 minutes per game. He is shooting just 28 percent from the floor and even at 7-1 has had a number of his shots blocked.

"I still feel sharp pains," he told Slam. "Like after my dunk against Milwaukee. After that, I went down from there. Still quite a ways to go. At the moment, it's tough to enjoy the game because of how limited I am physically. I'm still sort of working through that."

Bynum later told Slam "my health is my concern. My knees are my knees. They're not going to get better, they are what they are. That's really it."
