Andrew Wiggins NCAA Debut [VIDEO]: Wiggins Scores 16; Is He the Next T-Mac?

Highly touted freshman Andrew Wiggins scored 16 points in his debut for the Kansas Jayhawks as he showed the talent that has him picked by experts as the consensus top overall pick in next year's NBA draft.

Yahoo! Sports reports that Wiggin's first shot was a soft floater from 10 feet after making a nifty spin move on the wing.

''He did some good things,'' Jayhawks coach Bill Self told Yahoo! Sports. ''I think he can be more aggressive, but I think all the guys can be more aggressive.''

The Jayhawks beat Louisiana-Monroe, 80-63. The team had three freshmen in its starting lineup.

Yahoo! Sports blogger Jeff Eisenberg, however, noted that Wiggins had a lackadaisical effort compared to other fancied freshmen like Jabari Parker and Julius Randle.

"The most pedestrian performance from the three came from Wiggins, who wasn't always aggressive in Kansas' laborious 80-63 victory over Louisiana-Monroe but showed flashes of his precocious talent. Despite going scoreless for one 14-minute stretch of the first half, the 6-foot-8 wing sank 5 of 9 shots and finished with a team-high 16 points, three boards, two assists and three steals," he wrote in his blog.

Wiggins is considered as a franchise-changing prospect for NBA teams looking forward to next year's draft. Many consider his game similar to that of Tracy McGrady, a potent scorer during his heyday. He is hyped to become the next big superstar in the NBA that some have coined the term "tanking for Wiggins" in reference to teams intentionally losing to get the best chance at winning the lottery for next year's draft.
