The episode 489 of "Naruto Shippuden" featured the beginning of Shikamaru Hiden story arc and fans can expect episode 490 to be built upon what has already taken place and perhaps, even provide a long, hard look at the silver-tongued scoundrel known as Gengo.
The previous episode of the anime series laid the perfect groundwork for what is likely to be looked upon in episode 490. In the previous installment, fans learned more about this possible threat looming just over the horizon and how mysterious Gengo will be someone who needs to be dealt straight away.
The normally relaxed and laid back Shikamaru is unable to ignore this threat. Thus steps up to take it on, even though the secret which is undertaking will alienate him from some of his closest and dearest friends.
The episode 489 provides enough background for the fans so that they can understand what is about to come next, despite all that, there are still some key elements that are lacking.
As noted by Anime News Network, episode 489 of "Naruto Shippuden" was pretty low on action but fans are expected to see something different in episode 490. With their enemy found and the missions well-known, the next episode of the anime series may finally feature Shikamaru and his compatriots coming face-to-face with their opponents.
But the meeting of those two might not be a very pleasant one.
Gengo's charismatic way of speaking means that people are very much drawn to him, that also in turn means getting to him will likely prove to be a great challenge.
Fans can learn more about Gengo and how the story Shikamaru will keep evolving when episode 490 of the anime airs on January 19th. Following this episode, the Shikamaru-centric story arc is expected to run for three more episodes with the last one expected to be aired around February 9th.
