Mozilla Comes Up With A Brand New Logo

Mozilla has recently changed its logo. This step taken by the company is to rebrand itself in front of the world as modern technology outfit and they want to gain some attention by that.

Mozilla Firefox, a free web browser, was formed by Mozilla foundation in the year 2002 and released later in the year 2004. During those days, even its beta version gained so much popularity and was very well-known for its speed and security it provided as compared to Internet explorer. After it was released it got over 60 million downloads within the span of nine months which was a big challenge for Internet explorer during those days.

Having a cool logo would have been a better idea way back in 1997 when there was not much of a competition. But today in 2017 users need better service than a good looking logo. Branding does help in all the ways to attract the users. But the share of browser market of Mozilla has gone down after the year 2010 considering which this change of logo and software updates are necessary as reported in extremetech.

Mozilla's new logo replaces 'ill' with a colon and two slashes which are usually found in the URL's. "Because it has a portion of URL embedded in the middle of the logo, which let's you know this must be some kind of internet company," Tim Murray, Mozilla's creative director, told Wired.

Firefox has been struggling and losing its installs to Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge. In the battle of surviving in this fight, there were many bad decisions made by Mozilla in recent times like Thunderbird in 2012. Also, Firefox OS which was a step taken to fight Android and iOS.

Mozilla was one of the most innovative browsers at one time and even secure too. But after Google arrived the users found it better than Mozilla and started shifting away from it.

Chrome provided their users with a cloud which gives them access to bookmarks, passwords and even browser history as reported in gizmodo. In a simple manner, Chrome has whipped off Mozilla and other browsers.
