'Goosebumps 2' Release Date Announced, Sequel To Hit Theaters In January 2018

'Goosebumps' sequel was originally announced in April 2016. Now, Sony Pictures (Exhibitor Relations) has set a 'Goosebumps 2' release date of January 26, 2018.

Original movie's director Rob Letterman and screenwriter Darren Lemke will return for the sequel. 'Goosebumps' was number one hit on sales charts when it was released on home video. The movie was made from a $58 million budget and collected $156.7 million worldwide.

As written in Coming Soon, 'Goosebumps' was based on Scholastic's worldwide best-selling book series with over 400 million copies in print. The movie starred Jack Black as book author R. L. Stine, along with Dylan Minnette (Zach), Ryan Lee (Champ) and Odeya Rush (Hannah).

The story of original 'Goosebumps' followed by a boy named Zach who moved to a small town with his mother. He meets the beautiful girl who lives next door named Hannah. Zach was warned by Hanna's father to stay away from her.

Later, Zach found out that her mysterious father is R. L. Stine, the author of 'Goosebumps' series. Stine was a prisoner of his own imagination because the monsters he imagined were real and was living inside his books.

Zach accidently unleashes magical monsters by unlocking one of the books. He teams up with his one and only friend in the town, Champ, Hannah and Stine to send the monsters back and save the villagers.

'Goosebumps 2' is the fourth collaboration between director Rob Letterman and actor Jack Black. Their first project was animated adventure 'Shark Tale' in 2004, then live-action 'Gulliver's Travels' before 'Goosebumps'.

According to IGN, Deborah Forte and Neal H. Moritz will produce the 'Goosebumps 2'. The plot of the upcoming movie is still a mystery. This family horror comedy movie is expected to be a big hit like its original film.

'Goosebumps' did unexpectedly good on box office collection and 'Goosebumps 2' is also expected to perform well. Fans are eagerly waiting for the sequel to release.
