New rumors indicate that Tech Giant, Apple will launch group video calling feature in FaceTime with iOS 11. Currently, FaceTime is used for one-to-one calling.
An Israel technology blog The Verifier writes that, out of several new features, able to make a multi-user video service FaceTime is one of them. The next update for the iOS operating system 11 will be more 'Social' and put an emphasis primarily on chats on iMessage and FaceTime.
They are claiming that they got the information validated by several people familiar with iOS development process (partially developed in Israel). They leaked some of the features of iOS 11 which will be coming in June.
How does it work?
When FaceTime icon will appear in the group options, it will be possible to start a video call with FaceTime through a group conversation in iMessage. Video call will support up to five people at once.
Release
They are not quite sure whether Apple will add this feature in future updates or major OS update. One thing is for sure that if Apple decides to add this feature, they will launch it before mid-2017.
FaceTime was introduced in 2010 and since then it is supported between two users only. As written in 9 to 5 Mac, The TV Show, 'Modern Family' actually simulated group FaceTime calling in an Apple-centric episode back in 2015 as part of the plot.
Microsoft's Skype and Google's Hangouts provides group video calling service since a long time. However, just like FaceTime, Google's latest video calling app Duo focuses on one-to-one calling.
Just like every year, Apple is expected to announce major software updates along with iOS 11 at WWDC sometime in early June. Group FaceTime calling was not on the list before this unverified rumor but users will be happy if they get this feature.
