NBA Recap: Hawks Outlast Knicks in Quadruple Overtime, Raptors Lose Close Game to Magic

The NBA had a couple of close games on Sunday night. The Atlanta Hawks outlasted the New York Knicks on Sunday night in a quadruple overtime marathon. On the other hand, the Toronto Raptors lose a close one against the Orlando Magic.

The quadruple overtime game was the one for the ages and it is already the favorite for the game of the season. As for the Raptors-Magic game, it's not an all-time classic but it highlighted the struggles of Toronto midway through the season.

Hawks beat Knick in 4OT

The Hawks and Knicks played for a total of 68 minutes on Sunday at Phillips Arena in Atlanta, per NBA.com. The game became a marathon as it went to quadruple overtime. Paul Millsap put up 37 points, 19 rebounds and seven assists to help the Hawks beat the Knicks.

Carmelo Anthony had a game-high 45 points with six rebounds and four assists. However, it was not enough as the Knicks suffered their sixth defeat in ten games. New York currently sits 11th in the Eastern Conference standings but they are just two and a half games behind the final playoff spot.

The Knicks were without Derrick Rose, who missed the game because of a sprained ankle. Four Knicks starters fouled out by the end of the third overtime. According to the New York Post, the game was only the 11th quadruple overtime in NBA history.

Raptors struggles continues, lost to Magic

The Raptors are back to the losing column on Sunday with an 114-113 loss to the Orlando Magic at home. Kyle Lowry's big game - 33 points, five rebounds and eight assists - were not enough as Toronto drops to third in the Eastern Conference standings behind the Cleveland Cavaliers and Boston Celtics.

Nikola Vucevic put up a double-double of 25 points and ten rebounds to lead Orlando. Jeff Green and D.J. Augustin came up big off the bench for the Magic as they combined for 37 points. The Magic ended their three-game losing streak with the win in Toronto.
