NBA Rumors: Brooklyn Nets Willing to Trade Brook Lopez for Two First-Round Picks

The latest NBA rumors have revealed that the Brooklyn Nets are looking for two first-round picks in exchange for star center Brook Lopez. The Nets are not shopping their All-Star center but they are willing to negotiate if a team is willing to give them what they want.

According to Brian Lewis of the New York Post, the NBA rumors regarding Lopez is expected since the Nets are desperate to start their rebuild. The problem for Brooklyn is they don't have a first-round pick until the 2019 NBA Draft.

The Nets are reportedly looking for two forts-round picks for Lopez, preferably one for this year's draft and one for 2018. The team has no other choice but to let go of their best player since they cannot rebuild without draft picks.

Other Nets players like Bojan Bogdanovic and Rondae Hollis-Jefferson are not worth of first-round picks. Lopez is currently averaging 20.3 points and 5.2 rebounds this season and he has stayed healthy in the past couple of seasons.

It should be noted that Brooklyn's first-round picks for 2017 and 2018 are owned by the Boston Celtics. The Nets sent it to Boston as part of the blockbuster deal wherein they acquired Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce in 2013.

If ever the Nets make Lopez available, the New Orleans Pelicans are one of the teams interested in him, per Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical. Lopez is the probably the backup plan for the Pelicans if they can't acquire Jahlil Okafor from the Philadelphia 76ers.

New Orleans is looking for an offensive center to relieve pressure off of Anthony Davis, who is battling a lot of minor injuries this season. The team wants to preserve the body of Davis since he's the franchise superstar and one of the best players in the league.

As for the Nets, they are in a very sad state since they are the worst team in the league this season. Their 2017 first-round pick now owned by the Celtics could end up being the first overall pick in a very loaded draft class.
