NBA Power Rankings:- Bracing For Durant's Reunion With Oklahoma City

A limited amount of movement has taken place in the Top 10 of weekly NBA Power Rankings, but it can't the fact that one of the most anticipated weeks have arrived in this season. The annual passage of the Super Bowl now shifts most of the nation's sporting spotlight onto the NBA.

This most probably explains that Kevin Durant's much-anticipated return to Oklahoma City in Golden State Warriors colors is just a few days or we can say just a few sleep away. On Saturday night, Durant will visit the Chesapeake Energy Arena for the first time with his new team.

This will only happen when the Warriors stop in Memphis to face the only club that has beaten them twice this season. A back-to-back can't get much tougher than this for the Dubs with a rematch against the Grizzlies followed by a ride on the Russell Westbrook triple-double train in what appears to be a contentious return for Durant.

We know how the Grizzlies trounced Golden State Warriors by 21 points in Memphis on 10th of December before their unforgettable fourth-quarter rally from 19 points down in Oakland on the 6th of January. Apparently, there are no major threats to Durant and Co. losing their grip on the top spot, and more so not when the Warriors, despite their unexpected overtime loss on Saturday night at Sacramento, still have such a high average point margin of +12.8.

This margin is more than seven points higher than the average scoring point margin boosted by East-leading Cleveland Cavaliers. But, most importantly, Golden State Warriors can set a new single-season NBA record if they can keep the average win margin above the +12.3 level. A reading posted by 1971-72 Los Angeles Lakers team, who famously won 33 consecutive games en route to the championship.
