LA Lakers' Timofey Mozgov Caught In The Middle Of Russia-USA Rift

Just when the conflict between Russia and the United States reportedly interfered the 2016 presidential election, it is scary on up to what extent this issue will affect everybody. As for LA Lakers' center Timofey Mozgov, it is something that he cannot answer.

According to an ESPN article, The Russian big man found himself searching for answers while responding to the questions of many regarding the actions of his native country's president when they visited the New York Knicks. He is being asked about something that is not under the radar of the basketball world.

"People ask me questions sometimes, 'Oh, your boy Putin did this,'" stated the Russian behemoth. "He's not my boy, first of all. He's my president, but he's not my friend. And he never asks me what [to] do."

He is also left wondering about the reaction of the people every time the two countries are being placed within the same sentence. Lakers Nation said that the 30-year old Mozgov sees the Russia and the US working together as a good thing, only if President Donald Trump wants to.

"When we talk about Russia in the States and Trump, I don't get why people get mad. If he wants to make a good relationship with Russia, I don't get it. It's good to be friends with somebody," said the six-year NBA veteran. He also added that he is not up-to-date with politics in his native country.

Mozgov, part of the Cleveland Cavaliers championship team that overcame a 3-1 lead, believes that the Russian stereotypes is still present but reiterated that he knew a lot of people who went to Russia and proved that the perception about Russia was wrong.

At this point, the Russian center prefers to be more involved on basketball as he is zoning away from the political issues of his home country. His team Lakers is currently at the lower half of the western conference standings with 18-37 and he's averaging 7.5 points and 4.9 boards in 20.7 minutes per outing.
