Brock Lesnar Reportedly Announces His Retirement From UFC

Brock Lesnar, the former UFC heavyweight champion, who is currently under suspension of a year from the competition has informed told that his career in UFC is over. The 39-year-old Lesnar told to the company on Tuesday that he is retiring from MMA and the news was confirmed by UFC officials on ESPN.com followed by the initial report by MMAFighting.com.

Brock Lesnar was handed a one-year suspension in January from The United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) which handles drug test for UFC. In addition to that Lesnar was also fined $25,000 by the Nevada State Athletic Commission. The former UFC champion failed tests twice, first while training and then on the day of UFC 200 in July as reported by twin cities where he was found positive for the banned substance clomiphene.

USADA said that they were aware of the retirement. Lesnar is now no longer included in the USADA's testing pool under the UFC's anti-doping program. Although this suspension does not affect his professional career at WWE.

Lesnar (5-3) would have been eligible to resume his career in UFC from July but now his USADA suspension puts a hold on this announcement as reported by ESPN. But if he has to return to Octagon Lesnar has to complete his five months of suspension which now looks unlikely to happen.

Brock Lesnar first retired from MMA in 2011 after he lost to Alistair Overeem at UFC 141. His MMA career began in the year 2006 and won his first UFC heavyweight title in 2008 where he defeated Randy Couture. Lesnar came out of his five-time retirements to fight against Mark Hunt at UFC 200 in Las Vegas. Lesnar won the match by a unanimous decision which was later changed to a no contest after he was found positive in the tests.

Before coming to MMA, Brock Lesnar was a popular face in WWE and he is a four-time WWE heavyweight champion. He is currently seen regularly in the WWE arena.
