Cris Cyborg Blasts ‘Afraid’ UFC Women’s Featherweight Champ Germaine De Randamie, Dana White Says Return From Suspension Looking Good

Cris Cyborg has long been universally considered the best women’s 145 pound fighter in the world. Early Friday, the Invicta FC world featherweight champion blasted newly crowned UFC women’s featherweight champion Germaine de Randamie for being “afraid” to fight her.

Cris Cyborg took to social media to fire a series of tweets aimed at the UFC women’s featherweight champion, first saying that she’s presently waiting for an update on Germaine de Randamie’s hand injury and pointing out that Holly Holm, who has lost her last three fights, did not deserve a rematch. Then, Cris Cyborg called out UFC president Dana White, saying that his women’s featherweight champion was afraid to fight her and that no one call themselves a champion until they beat her.

Responding to former UFC women’s bantamweight champion’s claims that her blows after the horn were intentional, Germaine de Randamie suggested she was open to a rematch with Holly Holm, as reported by MMA Fighting. This of course did not sit well with Cris Cyborg. During her Octagon interview following her title-winning fight, de Randamie revealed that she was fighting with a hand injury that could require surgery, putting off answering if she was looking forward to fight Cris Cyborg.

Cris Cyborg was tapped to vie for the inaugural UFC women’s featherweight title, but was suspended after testing positive for a banned substance. But she could possibly see herself back in the Octagon soon. As reported by MMA Weekly, Dana White recently said that Cris Cyborg’s case with the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency is “looking really good.”

As pointed out by the report, Cris Cyborg tested positive for Spironolactone – a drug normally used to treat heart failure, high blood pressure and low potassium. “Apparently, the three things she has is what this medicine is used for, so it’s looking really good,” Dana White said. “She legitimately has these three separate issues and that’s what that drug is used for and the doctors are saying it.” White did not expound on what the medical conditions were.
