NBA Trade Grades: Oklahoma City Thunder Wins Taj Gibson And Trades Cameron Payne to Chicago Bulls In Return

Reports on social media are hovering regarding the recent NBA trade rumors.Amid ripe rumours surrounding a potential Jimmy Butler blockbuster, the Chicago Bulls surprised everyone with a smaller rebuild-oriented move before the trade deadline.

Chicago Bulls as expected traded Taj Gibson, the longtime front court stalwart and Doug McDermott, a lottery selection, to the Oklahoma City Thunder in exchange for Cameron Payne, along with Joffrey Lauvergne and Anthony Morrow reports, ESPN. The Chicago Bulls made sure to get something in return for Taj Gibson who is a very well respected power forward and has went through many playoff battles with the Chicago Bulls. His contract was ending and this seemed to be the right move for the Chicago Bulls. Though the team was aiming for the defense specialist, Andre Roberson, the Oklahoma City Thunder team was adamant on keeping him for the future.

Cameron Payne was pegged as one of the best potential point guard in the game, he was unable to show his talent because of the injuries. Chicago Bulls has now got Cameron Payne which goes with its years of cheap team control and though it has high hopes for him, the team looks half-baked rebuild reports, Sports Illustrated.

Though the deal makes sense, but it still looks like it is not working for the Chicago Bulls, who surrendered another future second round asset in the form of McDermott. The team surrendered two first-rounders in the previous draft and landed the small forward, who's had few good spurts of success but failed to impress the Chicago Bulls who were hoping a lot from this four-year college player. This also shows the ongoing
problems with this team's scouting and draft pickings. Jimmy Butler, and to some degree, Nikola Mirotic (who was also tried to be replaced by the Chicago Bulls) are the only ones left from the Thibs era. Future doesn't look so bright for the Chicago bulls after all its debacle in scout pickings.
