Microsoft Surface Book 2 News: Release Date Would Be Mid-2017 With These Monstrous Specs

Microsoft released the first generation of Surface Book in the year 2015 and was all praises for its supposedly ultimate laptop. Though that tablet cum laptop was shipped with a very impressive list of specifications like a detachable screen, Surface Pen support, Intel Skylake dual-core processors and Windows 10 Professional, it did had its share of problems. The first generation had some issues like the 'Dynamic Fulcrum Hinge', including a gap that's formed when the laptop is closed. It also had a low battery life and a steep price.

According to The Country Caller, Surface Book might come up by mid-2017. The next generation Surface Book is yet to be officially announced by Microsoft, but the speculations are ripe about a mid-2017 release. This time the Surface Book might feature the all new Kaby Lake processor which will be available by that time frame.

There are some reports indicating that there is a fair chance of Xbox Play Anywhere support on Surface Book 2 but it looks like a far fetched assumption. The Redmond-based company has not yet capitalized on its Xbox Play Anywhere program on its Surface line of devices and it will be a good move if it decides to do so. According to The Science Times, Microsoft is also speculated to come up with the Surface Pro 5 with specs like Intel Kaby Lake Processor.

The new Surface Book might feature the same-sized screen but will more likely offer a 4K resolution. This report can be supported by Intel's Kaby Lake architecture release. As Intel's Kaby Lake processor includes a better graphics architecture, it will, therefore, improve the playback of 4K video and 3D graphics on Surface Book 2.

With the introduction of the 4K screen and 3D graphics, the new Surface Book will most probably feature a better battery backup. The new processor from intel might help in this department. The current generation provides an 8-hour battery backup in the base and there should be a significant increase in the 2nd generation.
