Despite Being The Clear Winners In This Year's Free Agency, The New England Patriots Are Still Looking To Get Even Better

The NFL free agent open season is just barely a week old and already teams are busy improving their rosters to further bolster their chances of winning that ever elusive Super Bowl championship. If during the NFL season, there are winners and losers, in the off season it's not that different. Of course, if you've just won the Super Bowl, most would expect that you would make minimal changes on your roster. Not so with the Super Bowl LI champions, the New England Patriots. With the way the New England Patriots are acquiring top caliber players, it seems like they've not just won the Super Bowl.

Of all the NFL teams this off season, the New England Patriots appear to be the clear runaway winners, according to a report from the Boston. The New England Patriots have just won Super Bowl LI and are once again favored to win it again next year.

Since day one of the free agency period, the New England Patriots have been very busy. In an uncharacteristic move, the New England Patriots spent huge money to sign Buffalo Bills Pro Bowl cornerback Stephon Gilmore. Stephon Gilmore signed a five year, $65 million deal with the New England Patriots, via a report from the Bleacher Report.

After a few days from that monumental signing, the New England Patriots are at it again. This time they got New Orleans Saints wide receiver Brandin Cooks by trading away their first round pick in this year's NFL Draft.

Aside from those two major acquisitions, the New England Patriots have also made some minor moves to further improve an already formidable roster. The New England Patriots traded for Indianapolis Colts tight end Dwayne Allen and Carolina Panthers defensive end Kony Ealy.

Just seeing those player acquisitions, the New England Patriots are the obvious winners in this off season. But knowing the New England Patriots, they are still looking for ways to further improve their roster.

The New England Patriots are not yet done dealing. The New England Patriots are still setting their sights on their own free agent players, namely Dont'a Hightower and Malcolm Butler.

If the New England Patriots do get Dont'a Hightower and Malcolm Butler, game over for the other NFL teams. They might as well give the New England Patriots the Super Bowl trophy.
