NBA News: Carmelo Anthony's Workload Will Be Reduced By Knicks Over The Final 12 Games

New York Knicks position in the NBA league isn't very good and the playoffs seem a slipped goal at the moment. This made team's head coach Jeff Hornacek to decide that All Star forward Carmelo Anthony's workload in final 12 games will be reduced.

Anthony himself revealed his head coach's decision that he will get reduced minutes for the remaining games in this season. This was revealed on Tuesday after practice on the University of Utah campus. It remains to be seen whether this will happen or not but as per the current situation of Knicks, it might well be wise to go on with this decision.

Apparently, Anthony played just 26 minutes in Knicks' loss to the Clippers on Monday. The forward didn't take part in the fourth quarter of that game. With the current situation of Knicks getting knocked out of playoffs, the forward has realised his roles might well change come the end of this season.

Knicks are certainly not doing this to improve their draft lottery position, but they have improved their chances of finishing top overall spot. They have a 27-43 record which is the sixth worst in the league and they are just ahead of Philadelphia, by a game.

Head coach Hornacek started with a regular lineup against Clippers, that will likely be the lineup come Wednesday's game against the Jazz. This means Willy Hernangomez will start at the centre again. After the Jazz game, they are scheduled to play in Portland the following night and it might be the best chance for Hornacek to rest his forward Anthony.

A report suggests that NBA commissioner Adam Silver has sent a memo to all NBA owners calling the practice of resting of marquee for certain games as unusual and it is becoming as issue now. Silva mainly refers to teams like Cavaliers and Warriors who rested their marquee for televised league games. Anthony chose to play in a televised despite not being 100% against the Cavaliers back in December.

Anthony might well want to take part in remaining 12 games as he knows after these games, he won't take part in playoffs for the fourth year running which in turn means no meaningful basketball until October. He shared he is not happy or satisfied with the resting idea but he is at peace with it.
