Bob Arum Harbors No Grudge against Mikey Garcia

Mikey Garcia and Bob Arum have went separate ways but the 85-year-old CEO of the world-renown Top Rank Promotions is more than willing to stage the fight  between  Ukrainian Vasyl Lomachenko and his former protégé from Ventura, California.   Vasyl Lomachenko, an extremely gifted pound-for-pound fighter, has become Top Rank's high-rated fighter after a string of victories won in fascinating manners. He is the current WBO super featherweight world champion while Mikey Garcia owns the WBC lightweight title.

The 29-year-old Garcia is well-known for his well-calculated, intelligent, and superbly accurate - augmented with respectable punching power - fighting style that has brought him three-world championships thus far. Having seen himself hoisted to the echelon of boxing, in 2014, he went into legal trouble with his promoter for issues related to his winnings. A two-year long litigation would ensue before the two sides would reach a settlement. Garcia also failed to acquire a fight for the same two-year time.

A showdown between Micky Garcia (36-0, 30 KOs) and Vasyl Lomachenko (7-1, 5 KOs) will certainly be a boxing spectacle to behold. Lomachenko, 29, using his superb boxing skills primarily characterized by the ability of his feet to quickly implement angles in order to set-up a comfortable and safe firing positions,  has befuddled all his opponents, allowing him to win a world title as early as his third fight in the professional ranks. Mikey Garcia is seen as a serious test for Vasyl Lomachenko, but to say the opposite as similarly true is certainly a valid proposition.

For the meantime, Vasyl Lomachenko has a scheduled ring date. He will be facing Jason Sosa, the current WBA world champion, in a featherweight unification bout.   For his part, Mickey Garcia is likely to defend his WBC belt against George Linares, should Linares managed to beat again his former rival Anthony Crolla at the Manchester Arena in Manchester, England this Saturday.  

Should Mikey Garcia and Vasyl Lomachenko managed to get past their respective interim, but equally dangerous fights, the fans will be in for a treat - a very fascinating fight to watch this year. In great part the fight materializing is Bob Arum's handiwork.
