Google Pixel 2 & Pixel XL 2: Specs, Features, Expected Release

According to the reports, Google is planning to unveil three new smartphones later this year. Out of which, two smartphones will be successors of previous year's Google Pixel and Pixel XL while the third one will be the bigger than these two. Tech giant codenamed Google Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2 "muskie" and "walleye", while the third device "taimen" that is a big fish in the salmon family.

Google Pixel and Pixel XL received positive feedbacks and fans are waiting for successors. As written in Tech.Mic, Google confirmed earlier this month that it will launch Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2. It did not confirm about the third bigger smartphone codenamed "taimen", also being called as Pixel XXL. Here's what Google's Rick Osterloh, head of the hardware department, discussed about Google Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2.

He gave an approximate idea about the release date in his interview with AndroidPIT. "There is an annual rhythm in the industry. So you can count on us to follow it," he said. Osterloh also said that "Pixel stays premium," that means Google Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2 will also be premium devices.

Google Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2 will feature small bezels on top and bottom as per the reports. Samsung is also doing the same with its flagship Galaxy S8 and Apple iPhone 8 is predicted to reduce/remove the bezels as well. Pixel devices are also expected to feature industry-leading 18:9 QHD display panels.

Although Google Pixel was the perfect device, it was missing a must-have feature in premium phones, water, and dust resistance. Google Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2 should have an IP68 certification to keep up with the market. Google might want to consider increasing storage as well, with the best camera currently available in the market, the storage option seems low. It can also add support for microSD card if it wants to continue with the same storage option.
