Raiders Fan Suicide Attempt: Man Breaks Fall Of Woman Jumping From Upper Deck At O.Co Coliseum [VIDEO]

According to reports, a lifetime fan of the Oakland Raiders was described by police as a "hero" after he broke the fall of a woman who jumped from the upper deck of the O.co Coliseum Sunday in an apparent suicide attempt and saved her life.

According to Deadspin, about 15 minutes after the Raiders fell to the Tennessee Titans 23-19, the unidentified woman climbed to the top of section 301, which is an area that is tarped-off and closed to the public behind the end zone looking to jump. According to the report, two men on 200-level concourse saw her and repeatedly shouted "don't do it," in an effort to persuade the woman to come down.

The woman ignored their pleas and jumped 50 feet to the concourse below where the man, a 61-year-old Marine Corps veteran from Stockton, Calif. attempted to catch her, according to Deadspin.

A video on coverage of the incident can be seen here.

"He saved her life quite honestly, at his own expense," [Alameda County Sheriff's Sgt. J.D.] Nelson said, according to Deadspin. "This guy 100 percent saved her life. She'd be dead now."

According to the report, the woman is in critical condition at a local hospital and was knocked unconscious after the plummet. The man who saved her was also injured during his attempt to catch her, but is reportedly alert, awake and expected to survive.

"Even now, at the hospital he's very concerned about her," said Nelson, who visited the man at the hospital last night, Deadspin reports.

This event occurred just one week after a man accidentally fell during a Buffalo Bills game at Ralph Wilson Stadium after he lost his balance while sliding down a railing in the upper-deck and injured a man below him.

It is unknown at this time why the woman jumped in an apparent suicide attempt, according to Deadspin.

Nelson spoke proudly of the brave man who saved the unidentified woman and admired how he put his own life on the line to try and preserve someone else's.

"Raiders fans sometimes get a bad rap, but here was this guy who did an amazing, heroic thing to try to save this woman's life," Nelson said per Deadspin. "He did everything he could, including putting himself at great risk. There's not a lot of people who would do that, and he did it."
