Terence Crawford Markets Fight with Run-of-the-Mill Opponent Felix Diaz

It is well-known that the sport of boxing is also a huge business undertaking in which the marketing aspect is not left to the promoters alone but to the fighters themselves. A fight taking place between two famous fighters has no problem in that regard. But a fight involving participants of relative obscurity is an entirely different story.  Their focus is divided between hard training and marketing the fight. Terence Crawford, a two-weight world champion, appears to be currently doing just that.

Terence Crawford himself a nameless commodity? After having established dominance - to the far extent that potential opponents are afraid of him - the undefeated black American of 30 wins, 0 losses with 18 knockouts does not fit the billing.  But the Omaha, Nebraska native against a warrior of relative inferior stature is neither a good business idea for Crawford for the simple reason that people who frequent boxing events want to be entertained with intense and highly competitive fights. In fairness to the fighter from the Dominican Republic, but Felix Diaz, 33, as a professional boxer, is still oceans away from the 29-year-old Terence Crawford. Felix Diaz (19-1, 9 KOs) will try to snatch the WBC, WBO, The Ring, and lineal welterweight titles from Terence Crawford on May 20 at the Madison Square Garden in New York City.

Felix Diaz (19-1, 9KOs), who does have a claim to boxing prominence for having bagged an Olympic gold medal at the 2008 Beijing Games, is a comparative unknown in the professional ranks. He did have a competition against hitherto world champion Lamont Peterson. Diaz did not win the fight but many regarded him he should have earned the nod of the official ring judges. In his other outing, he had proven quite easily he was the boss between him and a certain Sammy Vasquez. Vasquez brought with him a virgin fight record prior to the Diaz encounter

Terence Crawford being fully aware of his run-of-the-mill arriving opponent in Felix Diaz, he seemed to have really meant he was on a serious sales talking endeavor when he declared lately that he ducks no one - a statement which could be easily misconstrued for Felix Diaz as a formidable opponent.
