Lunch With Derek Jeter? New York Yankees Veteran Infielder Auctioning Off Date For Charity [VIDEO]

New Yankees All-Star infielder Derek Jeter is auctioning off a lunch date to an adoring and wealthy fan with all the proceeds set to go to his Turn 2 Foundation.

According to the New York Daily News, bidding is slated to start at $90,000 for the chance to take part in a lunch for four with Jeter at the head of the table. The online offer, to be handled by Christie's Auction House, will also include four seats in the Yankees captain's personal luxury suite during a game and an autographed, game-used glove. Bids will be accepted through Dec. 17.

Turn 2 Foundation promotes leadership and healthy lifestyles for kids in new York as well as in Jeter's native Michigan and his current hometown, Tampa, Fla. According to The News, since 1996 the foundation has given out $18 million to help kids, Jeter told the newspaper he hopes the auction will expand the foundation's outreach and help more youngsters "reach their full potential."

The Yankees re-signed the 39-year-old Jeter to a one-year, $12 million deal earlier this offseason. Jeter played in just 17 games last season as he rehabbed from a broken ankle suffered in the 2012 ACLS and a variety of other nagging ailments.
