Jeremy Lin and the Brooklyn Nets did not have the best season on the court but they still managed to help charities because of it. Lin donated his salary on March 17 worth $30,000 with an additional $5,800 for all the three-point shots he made this season.
The Nets also managed to raise 8,000 pounds and household products with their free throws at the Barclays Center. At the start of the season, the entire team pledged to donate 10 pounds and goods for every free throw made at home.
Jeremy Lin is the first NBA player to form a partnership with One Day's Wages, an organization focused on making an impact on the world. Lin's cause has a goal of $200,000 and it will be for the benefit of women around the world.
"Millions of girls across the globe are unable to get the education they need to provide for themselves and their families. This is due to unaffordable school fees, forced child marriage, lack of sanitary products when they reach puberty, and many other barriers. My hope is to shed some light on these issues, and invite you to join me in taking action," Lin said on the official website of One Day's Wages.
The 28-year-old point guard has raised more than $154,000 at the moment. He even managed to encourage teammate Rondae Hollis-Jefferson to have his own cause and form a partnership with One Day's Wages.
On the other hand, the entire Nets team will provide a lot of families in Brooklyn with food and household products. The team managed to raise 8,000 pounds of food and goods with the help of Charity Stripe Initiative, Key Food and several major consumer brands.
According to Nets Daily, it is part of Key Food's 80th-anniversary celebration with Nets forward Justin Hamilton among the volunteers. He will be serving food to many people during the lunch celebration at the St. John's Bread and Life.
