Cam Newton Fish Only Diet Gets Credit For Elite Season? [VIDEO]

Cam Newton is crediting his newfound pescetarian diet with spurring his bounce back year this season.

According to TMZ, Newton has been on a fish-only diet for eight months now, refraining from turkey, ham and even chicken. This year marks the first Thanksgiving he will be celebrating without meat.

"It's kind of challenging my parents and my grandmother to think outside the box to try to incorporate fish," Newton told reporters Monday night as he hosted his 2nd annual 'Cam's Thanksgiving Jam' in his native North Carolina, where he helped serve more than 700 underprivileged kids and family members.

Newton added he's also found it challenging at times "being around in the locker room" watching as teammates eat "hot wings, nachos, hamburgers, hot dogs, etc."

But it's all proving to be a move well worth the sacrifice for Newton and the Panthers. In leading the Panthers to an 8-3 start, Newton has composed an 88.3 passer rating and thrown for 17 touchdowns against just nine interceptions.

Overall, Newton has passed for 2, 353 yards and has six games of at least 220 yards passing where he has thrown for a combined 12 touchdowns and ran for four more scores.

Newton's passer rating has him on par for the highest rating of his three year career.
