The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted everyone and this includes colleges and universities. As summer draws to a close, many colleges and universities are going back to school. One of the major points of contention has been whether or not colleges and universities are going to hold classes in person on their physical campuses. The reality is that many colleges and universities were forced to try. This is because colleges and universities depend on college football tremendously to generate hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue for their schools every year. If they do not hold classes in person on campus, then they cannot justify having athletes on campus either. As a result, students flocked back to campus.

Unfortunately, this did not go well. Within the span of a week, some of the biggest universities in the world, including UNC-Chapel Hill, were forced to return to virtual classes. In addition, the PAC-12 and Big Ten announced that they were not going to play college football this fall. This is going to result in the loss of billions of dollars in revenue collectively for these schools. As a result, many people are wondering how these schools are going to make ends meet. In the end, there are a few sports fundraising ideas that all sports teams might be able to put to use, including youth clubs and organizations.

One of the most important fundraising options that youth sports teams should put to use involves social media. Right now, people have been spending more time at home than they ever have in the past. As a result, internet traffic has boomed. Even though hundreds of millions of people use social media on a daily basis, even more are active right now. As a result, with a few clicks the button, it is possible for organizations to reach individuals who might be willing to open up their wallets to find youth sports. It is important for all youth sports organizations to think about the payment platform they are going to use to collect donations. Nobody wants to lose a possible donation purely because the donor cannot figure out how to use the payment page.

Another idea that youth sports teams might want to put to use is an athletic shoe drive. Kids outgrow their shoes in the blink of an eye. As a result, there are lots of lightly used shoes laying around because they do not fit the kids anymore. These shoes could be donated. Youth sports leagues should reach out to a local facilitator who is willing to connect these shoes. They will often take these shoes and drop off a substantial check that could be used to fund youth sports programs. This is another way that youth sports leagues might be able to raise money to fund their seasons even in the middle of a pandemic.

Even though a significant amount of attention has been paid to the potential loss of college football, sports at all levels are being impacted. This includes youth sports. The good news is that even though youth sports teams might be struggling to come up with funding for their sports this year, there are sports fundraising ideas that they can put to use. It is critical for all organizations to think about how they are going to be able to generate money that can be used to fund sports games this fall. There are ways to play sports safely.
