Richie Incognito and the Miami Dolphins have reached an agreement that will keep the suspended NFL player sidelined even longer as the league continues to probe the bullying/hazing scandal also involving teammate Jonathan Martin.
According to ESPN, Incognito, whose suspension was set to expire on Dec. 2, will remain banned from the team but will now be paid to do so. The website announced the two sides officially reached the new agreement on Nov. 21, just hours before Incognito postponed the grievance hearing he was scheduled to hold with league officials that same day.
ESPN previously reported the team suspended Incognito on Nov. 3 for conduct deemed detrimental to the team after Martin went public with claims of a pattern of abusive treatment he was subjected to by Incognito that included threatening and racial slurs.
The agreement places a six-week cap on the length of Incognito's suspension and reduces his unpaid suspension to two games, which totals $470,588, according to ESPN.
The website adds the NFL has since installed Ted Wells as an independent arbitrator to oversee the league's ongoing investigation of the Dolphins' workplace.
