Paul Pierce Injury: 'Truth' Has Broken Hand, Out Four Weeks For Brooklyn Nets? [VIDEO]

Brooklyn Nets forward Paul Pierce will be out from two to four weeks with a fracture in the middle finger of his shooting hand, according to Sports Illustrated.

The team announced Pierce suffered the injury during the first half of the team's 114-95 loss to the Houston Rockets last Friday. The veteran forward sat out the team's win over the Memphis Grizzlies the next night.

In what has been  largely disappointing season for the revamped Nets so far, Pierce has averaged 12.4 points per game in his first season with Brooklyn. Over the summer, the team acquired Pierce and longtime Boston Celtics running mate Kevin Garnett as part of a plan to turn the Nets into instant Eastern Conference contenders. The team also brought in rookie coach Jason Kidd to man the sidelines.

But injuries to starters Deron Williams and Brooks Lopez has left the team at a disadvantage and just 5-12 out of the gate. Nursing a sore ankle, Williams has played in just nine of the team's first 17 games and Lopez 10.

Chemistry has also been an issue for the Nets, who in addition to Pierce and Garnett also have at least six other newcomers on this year's roster.
