The last time Arizona played at home, the Cardinals suffered their first defeat of the season in a loss to Green Bay. They will look to make amends in Week 10 when they host the struggling Carolina Panthers. Who will prevail in the Panthers vs Cardinals showdown? Here's a breakdown of that matchup.

Carolina Panthers installed as +10 underdogs

Carolina's losing woes show no sign of abating as the Panthers suffered a humiliating 24-6 defeat at the hands of the New England Patriots in Week 9. The Panthers have now lost five of their last six games to drop to 4-5. They are losing ground fast in the NFC South as they trail the Tampa Bay Buccaneers by 2.5 games.

To make matters worse for the Panthers, they will be without Sam Darnold for the next few weeks after he was diagnosed with an incomplete fracture of his right shoulder blade. Darnold suffered the injury during the second quarter of their loss to the Pats.

Darnold struggled in that game against the Pats, completing just 16 of 33 passes for 172 yards with no touchdowns and three interceptions. He has thrown for 1,986 yards with seven touchdowns while completing 59.5 percent of his pass attempts in nine games for the Panthers this season. Darnold also has five rushing touchdowns this campaign.

With Darnold sidelined, the Panthers will utilize P.J. Walker as their starting quarterback against the Cards. Carolina also announced on Tuesday that they planned to sign veteran QB Matt Barkley off the practice squad of the Tennessee Titans.

Arizona Cardinals enter Week 10 as -10 favorites

The Arizona Cardinals will head to their showdown against the Carolina Panthers with momentum on their side after crushing the San Francisco 49ers, 31-17, in Week 9. It was a huge bounce-back win for the Cards, who suffered a gut-wrenching 24-21 loss to the Green Bay Packers in Week 8.

The victory helped the Cardinals wrest the lead in the NFC standings again with Arizona carrying an 8-1 record. The Cardinals managed to pull off the win even without the services of quarterback Kyler Murray, wide receivers DeAndre Hopkins and A.J. Green, and defensive end J.J. Watt, who were all sidelined with various injuries.

James Conner starred for the Cards in the shock win, finishing with 173 yards from scrimmage. He ran for two touchdowns and also caught a stunning 45-yard touchdown pass from backup QB Colt McCoy, who went 22 for 26 for 249 yards.

There is more good news for the Cards with Murray set to return for their Week 10 clash against the Panthers. Murray said that he is day to day right now and he has made crazy strides in a positive direction since suffering the injury against the Packers.
