Brooks Koepka's confidence had always been unshakeable, but a string of injuries and doubts began to erode his belief in his place among golf's elite. However, he answered all those doubts with a stunning performance at the PGA Championship that can be counted among his finest.

Winning his fifth major title was the most gratifying of them all, leaving no room for uncertainty.

Brooks Koepka Goes Full Michael Jordan

Koepka expressed his immense satisfaction, acknowledging the significance of this victory amidst the challenges he has faced in recent years. He was sidelined from the Masters and the Presidents Cup due to knee injuries, including a severe incident where he shattered his knee cap while trying to relocate it two years ago. Last summer, with an uncertain future, he made the controversial decision to join LIV Golf, a league backed by Saudi funding, attracting both criticism and skepticism.

Nevertheless, on that Sunday at Oak Hill, Koepka appeared dominant, facing off against the world's best golfers on a demanding course. He swiftly racked up three birdies at the start, maintained his lead despite Viktor Hovland's valiant fight, and ultimately finished with a remarkable 3-under 67, securing a two-shot victory.

After the win, Koepka even channeled his inner Michael Jordan as he said, "I'm back."

"I just think, I guess, [it] validates it for myself," Koepka said, via Yahoo Sports. "I guess maybe if anybody doubted it from Augusta or whatever, any doubts anybody on TV might have or whatever, I'm back. I'm here."

As he proudly posed beside the Wanamaker Trophy, Koepka raised his index finger, symbolizing his fifth major win. However, his gesture might as well have represented all five majors. With three PGA Championships and two U.S. Opens, he joined an elite group of only 19 other players who have claimed five or more majors.

This win marked his third Wanamaker Trophy. Only Jack Nicklaus and Walter Hagen surpass his achievement with five victories, while Tiger Woods stands at four PGA Championship wins. Moreover, it ended a major drought that felt like four long years for Koepka.
