Bill Simmons, a well-known Boston Celtics enthusiast and former ESPN personality who founded The Ringer, is experiencing a difficult evening following the Celtics' disappointing loss.
In the Eastern Conference Finals, the Miami Heat dominated Game 3 with a resounding 128-102 victory, taking a commanding 3-0 lead in the series.
Expressing his dismay on Twitter, Simmons found the Celtics' defensive collapse in 2023 perplexing. He credits the Heat for exploiting a disjointed, poorly coached, and lethargic Boston team.
Simmons criticized the coaching decision to call a timeout four plays too late, adding to his frustration. He said he'll be discussing this disappointing performance on his podcast.
"The fall of the Celtics defense in 2023 is just dumbfounding. Kudos to Miami for knowing exactly how to attack a disconnected, poorly coached half-asleep team. This is embarrassing. Oh and the timeout came 4 plays too late. Should be a fun pod tonight!" Simmons said.

Heat's Exceptional Performance vs. Celtics
Miami displayed exceptional performance across the board in Game 3, effectively dismantling the Celtics, who now face elimination with just one more loss. Gabe Vincent led the Heat with 29 points, while Jimmy Butler contributed 16 points on 5-of-13 shooting.
The Celtics appeared unrecognizable compared to their regular season form as the second seed in the Eastern Conference. They lacked energy, resilience, and passion, succumbing to Miami's relentless offensive onslaught that virtually sealed the game by halftime.
The Celtics found themselves behind by a staggering 33 points, enabling Miami to shoot an impressive 56.8 percent from the field and 54.3 percent from 3-point range.
The Celtics' star duo, Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, had a dismal outing, collectively scoring only 26 points on 12-of-35 shooting, with a lackluster 9-of-24 in the first half. Meanwhile, the Heat saw six players reach double figures, with Vincent leading the way.
Historically, no team in NBA history has ever overcome a 3-0 series deficit in the playoffs. Therefore, for the Celtics to reach the NBA Finals, they will need to achieve something unprecedented in league history.
