LeBron James Quotes Jay-Z Lyric Amid Retirement Plans

The four-time champion quoted rapper Jay-Z's track "What More Can I Say" with his caption, which appeared to have similarities with reality.

"I'm [supposed] to be #1 on everybody's list, we'll see what happens when I no longer exist," the 38-year-old wrote.

Rumors of a possible retirement for James popped up after the Los Angeles Lakers were swept by the Denver Nuggets in the Western Conference Finals last week.

If James decides to go through retirement, he will leave $97 million worth of salary in two years on the table, according to an article by Bleacher Report.

James has spent 20 seasons in the league, drafted in 2003 by the Cleveland Cavaliers. He left the team in a much-publicized free agency in 2010 to join forces with Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh with the Miami Heat.

James won the first two of his championships with Miami, where he spent his athletic peak. He returned to the Cavaliers in 2014, leading them to a historic championship in 2016.

He took a leap in 2018, moving to Hollywood with the Los Angeles Lakers. Alongside big man Anthony Davis, the purple-and-gold franchise won the 2020 NBA championship at the NBA bubble in Orlando, Florida, while the rest of the world was closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
