Barcelona: Robert Lewandowski Ends Season as La Liga Topscorer

Robert Lewandowski's first season with Barcelona has gone remarkably well. After helping his new club clinch the league in the middle of May, the Polish striker has ended the season as La Liga's top scorer, winning the Pichichi Trophy.

The 34-year-old's 23 goals in La Liga were enough to edge Karim Benzema for the honor, who scored 19 for Real Madrid.

This is Lewandowski's sixth straight season as the leading top scorer in the league he has played on. Before leaving Bayern Munich, he was the reigning top scorer in Bundesliga for five straight seasons.

Barcelona and Robert Lewandowski Did Not Need a Single Penalty

Barcelona became the first team in over 80 years to win La Liga without a single penalty, while Lewandowski is the first player to win the Pichichi Trophy without scoring a single penalty goal since Mallorca's Dani Güiza in 2007/2008.

Regarded as one of the best strikers of all time, Lewandowski moved to Barcelona in the summer of 2022 after eight years in Bayern Munich and 12 years in Bundesliga, in a transfer worth more than $48 million plus other variables.

The Polish national was the reigning European Golden Shoe holder for the past two years before joining the Spanish club, an honor given to the season's leading goalscorer across all top-flight European leagues.

Lewandowski is set to become the 12th player in history to reach 600 goals for club and country, with 599 as his current tally. He may have to wait until next season to achieve the milestone.
