The Brazilian national football team wore black shirts for the first time in history during the first half of their friendly match against Guinea, held at the RCDE Stadium, home of La Liga club Espanyol in Barcelona, Spain.

The Brazilians ditched their traditional yellow and green colors to combat racism.

Real Madrid and Brazil star Vinicius Jr. recently received racial abuse from La Liga fans and was subject to a back-and-forth exchange with La Liga President Javier Tebas regarding the matter.

Brazil dominated their opponent, 4-1, scoring twice in the black shirts. They eventually reverted to their traditional colors in the second half to finish off Guinea.

Newcastle midfielder Joelinton and Real Madrid's Eder Militao, Rodrygo, and Vinicius Jr. provided the goals for the five-time World Cup champions. On the other hand, Rennes forward Serhou Guirassy struck back a goal for Guinea.

Vinicius Jr. Wears the Iconic Brazil Number 10 Shirt

Vinicius Jr. had now worn two of the most iconic shirts in football history.

The 22-year-old winger was recently handed the famous #7 Real Madrid shirt for the 2023-24 season, previously worn by club legends Raul and Cristiano Ronaldo.

For Brazil's two friendlies this month, Vinicius was the designated wearer of the famed #10 shirt, worn by the country's legends Pele, Zico, Rivaldo, Kaka, Ronaldinho, and Neymar Jr.

The usual wearer of the iconic number, Neymar, will not feature in the friendlies due to his recovery from a broken right ankle.

The injury has sidelined the PSG star from football action since March, giving Vinicius Jr. a chance to sport the prestigious shirt for Brazil.
