Tottenham Hotspur completed the $50.9 million signing of James Maddison from Leicester City, and an Arsenal legend believes the new recruit can help Harry Kane take his game to a higher level.

Paul Merson cannot help but praise Spurs' signing of the 26-year-old attacking midfielder. He believes Maddison can help Harry Kane score more goals.

"He [Kane] scored 30 league goals last season for Tottenham," said Merson in his article on Sky Sports.

"And who's playing with him at Spurs? He has to do it all himself virtually. If he stays at Spurs next season with James Maddison now there, I dread to think how many goals he will get."

The Arsenal legend's comments also made fans feel hopeful about the situation of Kane, who is rumored to be on the move to Bayern Munich.

He said Kane choosing the German club might be wrong because he is already close to breaking Alan Shearer's record in goals scored, and Maddison can help him achieve that.

Not afraid of bright lights

Maddison has yet to wear the Lilywhites but has already endeared himself to fans. He shows he is not afraid of the bright lights now that he is in London.

When asked which game he looks forward to the most, he did not hesitate to say Arsenal.

"I think whenever you sign for Tottenham the one fixture you look forward to is the North London derby, one hundred percent," he said in an interview with Spurs Play.

"It's such a big game, such a big game for everyone really when it happens."

Tottenham surely can use Maddison, who played 163 games for Leicester and scored 43 goals.
