Novak Djokovic and Stan Wawrinka are set for a reunion match in the Third Round of Wimbledon Open 2023, and the Serbian star knows very well who he is facing - his Grand Slam spoiler.

Djokovic is eying his 24th Grand Slam, but he has to hurdle Wawrinka, who beat him twice in the finals of Men's Singles - first in the 2015 French Open and second in the 2016 US Open.

"Well, he took away two Grand Slams from me," the Serbian said when asked about his next opponent.

"That's the role he played (in my career), beating me in two Grand Slam finals (smiling)."

Turning serious, Novak sang praises about the Swiss star.

"He's a great person. Really always inspirational what he's doing at his age. He's almost 40 years old. and he still keeps going strong. That's something that not many people can do."

If Wawrinka did not beat Djokovic in their previous finals meeting, he would have 25 by now and become the record holder of Grand Slam titles years before.

Wawrinka calls Djokovic the 'perfect player'

While there is a good reason for Wawrinka to feel confident about his chances against Novak Djokovic, he thought it was hard to find the opponent's weakness.

"If you look, everything is so clean. He plays the perfect shot in the right moment," he told reporters when asked to preview their highly anticipated match.

"I love to watch him play, as much as I was loving to watch Roger play. He can do everything."
