The jungle where dreams are made could be in London-the New White Hart Lane, to be specific.

Reports have claimed that American rapper and media mogul Jay-Z, Shawn Carter in real life, is preparing a bid to take over an embattled Tottenham Hotspur soon.

"More than a few of the very top clubs there - like Manchester United, Liverpool, and Chelsea - are now under US ownership and Jay would jump at the chance of a controlling interest at board level somewhere with the global reach of Spurs," the Daily Express wrote quoting insider sources.

"It remains to be seen whether Mr. Lewis will walk away free. If he doesn't, Jay has said he wants to be in a position to move quickly if he feels the price is right."

News of Jay-Z's interest came after Tottenham owner Joe Lewis surrendered himself to the US authorities for insider trading.

Lewis was charged with 16 counts of insider share dealing and conspiracy, and his bail is $295 million.

Jay-Z's Premier League connection

Football has always been in the mind of the American rapper who has ventured into sports, including as part owner of the Brooklyn Nets.

He is a proud Arsenal fan and even invited some Gunners to his London concert in 2010 in exchange for a personal visit to the Emirates Stadium.

Jay-Z's takeover still has a long way to go. If ever, he will join several American celebrities already part owners of English clubs. NBA star Lebron James is part owner of Liverpool, NFL legend JJ Watt has stakes with Burnley, and actor Ryan Reynolds partly owns Wrexham.
