Ex-Chiefs Boomer Esiason Believes Patrick Mahomes Should Earn the Same as Joe Burrow as the Face of the League

Joe Burrow is expected to get a new deal with the Cincinnati Bengals under a new CBA structure, and many expect it to be a massive one that he could eclipse Patrick Mahomes' contract with the Kansas City Chiefs.

Some see this as an anomaly. Should Burrow get more than Mahomes?

The two-time Super Bowl champion and two-time Super Bowl MVP is the eighth-highest-earning player this season.

He signed a new 10-year, $503 million contract last 2020, but that deal appears outdated given how huge Mahomes has become over the past seasons.

Former Chiefs quarterback Boomer Esiason believes that whatever Burrow will get, Mahomes should get the same as the face of the league.

"I mean, think about him. He's the face of the league," Esiason said during an appearance at the "Boomer and Gio" podcast.

"And he did that Peyton Manning 'Quarterback' thing, which really gave you a really unique look as to what it means to be a leader in the NFL, and how you carry yourself on the field. And he has almost a broken leg and he tells Andy Reid you're not taking me out of the game."

Mahomes voted Best of 2023 by fellow players

Esiason may be speaking facts here. He is all over the internet and television endorsing what he's probably not allowed to endorse. He is also part of the Netflix show "Quarterback" alongside NFL legends.

Just recently, fellow players voted him the best player of 2023.

He's carrying the Chiefs and NFL. Should Mahomes get more?
