The Baltimore Ravens have signed veteran outside linebacker Jadeveon Clowney, according to NFL insider Jordan Schultz.

The signing will give the Ravens depth on the defensive end, and the one-year deal is worth $2.5 million in base salary, which could rise to $6 million with incentives and other bonuses.

Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said that Clowney is a tough, hard-nosed, throws-his-body-around kind of player, having played against him many times.

"We understand how he plays and we're excited to have him. I think he's a little underrated as a pass rusher," the 60-year-old tactician said.

Harbaugh also thinks that the 30-year-old can help the team right away in Week 1, praising him for being a high-energy player and predicting him to become a good fit for their defensive needs this season.

Ravens is former first overall pick's fifth team in six seasons

The Baltimore Ravens will be Clowney's fifth team for the last six seasons, joining a short list of former top picks to play for more than five teams in their NFL careers.

The 2016 Second Team All-Pro selection is the only third player to reach such a feat, after 1987 top pick Vinny Testaverde and 1990 top pick Jeff George, both quarterbacks.

Clowney was selected with the first overall pick by the Houston Texans in 2014, remaining in the team until 2018.

He spent the 2019 and 2020 seasons with the Seattle Seahawks and Tennessee Titans before moving on to the Cleveland Browns for the 2021 and 2022 seasons.
