Harrison Bader is expected to move to a new MLB team soon after getting waived by the New York Yankees on Tuesday, August 29. One team that could revisit acquiring the 2021 Golden Glove Award winner is the Philadelphia Phillies.

The Yankees are cleaning the house as they try to overhaul the team with their current MLB season in shambles. Rather than finding an immediate fix to their misfortunes, New York is seen focusing more on a long-term goal, MLB.com reported.

Unfortunately, Bader will not be part of those plans. He becomes the latest player to be let go, following Josh Donaldson out the Yankees door.

It was a shocking development for the 29-year-old center fielder, who said he only learned about it at the Yankees' lunch room and saw it on ESPN on Tuesday afternoon at Comerica Park.

Regardless, the New York native remains grateful for the opportunity to be part of the New York Yankees.

"I'm a New York City kid, and I never in a million years thought I'd play in the big leagues, let alone for the New York Yankees. So, the opportunity has just been incredible. And I've loved every second of it," the 29-year-old stated.

Once he clears waivers, Bader is expected to draw his share of suitors. But one team that may make a renewed push is the Philadelphia Phillies.

The Phillies were reportedly targeting Bader at the deadline but were not keen on giving up any asset to shore up their outfield.

With the Yankees waiving the 29-year-old, the possibility of acquiring Bader has changed entirely. Philly can sign Bader once he clears waivers as early as Thursday, which would also make the center fielder eligible for postseason play, SI.com reported.
