Mack Brown Future: Coach Dodges Question After Longhorns' Big 12 Championship Hopes Ended in Loss to Baylor [VIDEO]

Texas coach Mack Brown didn't say anything about his future on Saturday night. And in the process, he may have spoken volumes.

The Dallas Morning News reported that Brown was, indeed, asked about whether he will remain the Longhorns coach following their 30-10 regular-season-ending loss to Baylor in what turned out to be the Big 12 championship game.

"I'm not talking about that tonight," Brown said. "I'm in the same position I was for the other 15 times I've been asked."

While Brown's comment held true immediately after the game, his response wasn't exactly a declaration that he intends to return. Speculation heightened this past week that Alabama Crimson Tide coach Nick Saban would replace Brown after this season.

When Oklahoma upset Oklahoma State 33-24 earlier in the day, the result meant that the winner of the game between the Bears and Longhorns would win the Big 12 title.

The loss means that Texas has a 30-20 in the last four seasons under Brown and no 10-win seasons. In the previous 12 seasons, the Longhorns compiled a 128-27 record, including nine straight 10-win seasons. Brown guided Texas to the national championship during the 2005 season and took the team to the BCS championship game in 2009.

Senior offensive guard Mason Walters also was asked about Brown's future after the game.

"No doubt in that. Wouldn't want to play for anyone else than coach Brown," he said. "I know the people running this team are the best in the business. I'm disappointed we couldn't get it done for them."

Junior defensive end Cedric Reed added, "The team is 100 percent behind him."

Sports Illustrated indicated before the game that the Brown would be the one to decide his fate:

"The source said any notion that the result of Saturday's game will have a direct impact on Brown's future - win and he stays or lose and he's gone - is incorrect. The source said Texas officials are waiting to see what Brown says after the Baylor game is over."
