The Philadelphia Phillies will need a third starter once the MLB postseason comes after Zach Wheeler and Aaron Nola. A couple of names are in the mix, although the Phillies must decide carefully.

Taijuan Walker and Ranger Suarez are the players who could be that third starter for the Phillies. Of the two, however, Walker could be an interesting choice. However, it does not come with a twist.

The All-Star pitcher, who is on a four-year $72 million contract, has no experience. Also worth noting is that Walker has been struggling for the third consecutive season with a 7.47 ERA, the Philadelphia Inquirer noted.

In their loss to the Braves, Walker fell behind Michael Harris II and Ronald Acuna Jr. in the third inning. It didn't get any better in the succeeding innings. However, this did not dampen the self-confidence of the Louisiana native.

"I know my stuff is good," Walker said. "But I'm not giving myself a chance when I get behind and I have to basically give them a cookie."

Hence, this could insert Suarez into the equation. Suarez has held up well, not allowing a hit until the seventh inning on Sunday, September 10, against the Marlins.

The Phillies are coming off a big win against the Braves in Game 2, 7-5, on Monday, September 11. The victory allowed them to maintain a 1 ½ lead over the Chicago Cubs for the No. 1 National League Wild Card with 18 to play, MLB.com reported.

The Phillies will try to hold off the Braves anew when they face each other again twice. The Atlanta Braves need to win the final two games of the series to clinch the NL East, the Associated Press reported.
