Browns: Myles Garrett Sets Record Straight on Steelers' Minkah Fitzpatrick's Controversial 'Dirty' Play

Minkah Fitzpatrick of the Pittsburgh Steelers continues to draw heat for his controversial play that ended the NFL season of running back Nick Chubb of the Cleveland Browns. Contrary to what is deemed dirty, defensive end Myles Garrett believes it was not.

The 27-year-old gave his take on the controversial dirty play of Fitzpatrick on Chubb when he spoke to Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com. In the opinion of the four-time Pro Bowler, it was not dirty and an unfortunate aftermath, Heavy.com reported.

"Minkah didn't do anything illegal. He was playing the game how it's supposed to be played," Garrett said via Khon 2. "It was very unfortunate what happened, Nick getting held up but just having, just planting his foot and the hit and all that. That's not unlike what corners around the league do. This is something that's very common."

In a previous post here on Sports World News, Fitzpatrick defended his hit on Chubb and stressed that it was not a dirty play.

Garrett shared that they have something similar planned for Derrick Henry of the Tennessee Titans, who they face in Week 3 action on Sunday, September 24, NBC Sports reported.

Despite his explanation, the three-time Pro Bowler continues to be blasted on social media for ending the season of Chubb.

In defense of Fitzpatrick

To put the Fitzpatrick dirty play issue to rest, Ryan Clark of ESPN chimed in defense of the former Alabama Crimson Tide product.

"To all of these people who think that what Minkah Fitzpatrick did is dirty - you're dumb, and you're soft, and you don't understand what it's like to be in that position," Clark said. "My job, Minkah Fitzpatrick's job, is to give the Pittsburgh Steelers another blade of grass to defend. Not only another blade, but as many blades as he possibly can."
