Raiders: Coach Josh McDaniels Latest Take Unlikely to Fire up WR Davante Adams

The Las Vegas Raiders are off to a slow start this NFL season, losing to the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 3.

Raiders coach Josh McDaniels is aware of the odds and knows he needs to find a way to perform better for Las Vegas. He responded to a previous shot of WR Davante Adams on the team and seemingly agreed to it in a certain way when he spoke to ProFootballTalk.

"I mean at some point you want to have it instead of be learning it," McDaniels said in his press conference. "I think we're all trying to compete and win. I know where he's coming from, and I think we have a lot of guys that are coming from that same perspective. And it's frustrating when you put a lot into it and you don't get the results you're looking for."

Davante Adams frustrations boiling over

Adams' frustrations are understandable. Considered one of the best wide receivers in the NFL to date, he has been playing brilliantly so far this 2023-24 NFL season.

He is ranked fourth in the NFL in receiving yards. Against the Steelers, he tallied 172 yards and two touchdowns on 13 receptions, SI.com reported.

But unless the Raiders can address their weaknesses - their running game and defense - the efforts of the six-time Pro Bowler are going for naught.

"We get these opportunities to watch the tape together and do these constructive things. We have got to get something out of it. It is not just talking and doing all of that but it is about putting this into action," the 30-year-old player said in a report by the Vincent Bonsignore of the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
