Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson faces a critical decision in his early career. However, indications suggest he may be inclined towards securing his long-term health and future.

The 21-year-old seriously considers opting for season-ending shoulder surgery on his injured AC joint on his throwing side.

Some believe this procedure to be the most effective way to ensure a complete recovery for his right shoulder, per NFL Network insider Ian Rappoport.

Rapoport added that Richardson and the Indianapolis Colts meticulously sought out and obtained multiple opinions regarding his shoulder, ranging from four to five, taking their time before arriving at this decision.

Richardson has not finished three games

The former Florida Gator hasn't finished a game in three of his first four NFL starts.

Richardson was pulled out of the season opener against the Jaguars after a hit to his right knee, and he also missed the remainder of the Week 2 game vs the Texans due to a concussion.

The fourth overall pick of the 2023 NFL Draft sustained the recent shoulder injury during a tackle after a four-yard run in the second quarter during their win against the Tennessee Titans a week ago on Sunday, October 8.

Richardson has completed 59.5% of his passes for 577 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception in his NFL career so far.

He also rushed for 136 yards and four touchdowns, making history as the first quarterback to score a rushing touchdown in each of his first three games.
