Houston Astros manager Dusty Baker has guided the team to an appearance in the 2023 American League Championship Series. The Astros are down 0-2 but are still in contention for what would be their second World Series title in a row.
At 74 years old, Bakers stands as the oldest manager in the MLB, yet he continues to demonstrate his unwavering dynamic energy.
However, fans have noticed something else about Baker - his consistent wearing of gloves during games.

Being wary of COVID-19
The two-time World Series winner has been wearing gloves, and his wife Melissa explained that it was due to precautionary measures against COVID-19.
In addition to wearing gloves, Baker has been seen wearing face masks for an extended period, even after mask mandates were lifted and COVID-19 vaccines became widely available.
"I still wear a mask because I had cancer 20 years ago and I had a stroke seven years ago. Some of the fans get on me, 'Take your mask off, you don't have to wear it', but it's in my best interest to wear it," the veteran manager said.
Baker tested positive for COVID-19 in August 2022.
Dusty Baker also has another habit. The three-time NL Manager of the Year has also been spotted with a toothpick in his mouth for several decades since his time with the Giants in 1993.
